Frequently Asked Questions

Who owns my logo or web site once it is delivered?

As part of your branding project package we include the original vector artwork and you have full ownership of any work created under our contract together. Web site ownership is transferred to you upon launch and once the final payment for your project is received. At that point, you have the option of keeping us on in an Administrator or Editor role to help with future updates (billed hourly) if you’d like.

What kind of payments to you accept? Do you offer different payment plans?

Due West Designs accepts online payments by debit or credit card and bank transfers through Stripe, as well as checks and money orders. A 20% deposit is due at the start of every project with additional terms outlined in your project quote/scope of work. We are always happy to break project fees into multiple invoices at your request.

What platform are your web sites built on?

We generally build our sites using the Squarespace platform because of its user-friendly nature (for those of you who want to manage and make updates to the site on your own going forward), as well as it’s all-in-one packaging of an intuitive CMS editor, analytics, SSL, and numerous integrations with other third party applications. Squarespace manages all routine maintenance and updates to the site so you don’t have to run updates for themes and plug-ins (or hire someone to do this). Best of all, it is widely supported through an extensive knowledgebase, free webinars, and 24/7 chat/email support for all customers.

We also build sites on the WordPress platform when requested, and have extensive experience in this area. Sometimes our clients are already set up for WordPress or already have experience working on that platform and we are able to accommodate those requests as well.

Does Due West Design offer support after my brand and/or web site is launched?

Yes! We love supporting our clients for the long haul and are always available for general graphic design work and web site updates. We also offer two optional monthly care plans for our web site clients: one for WordPress and one for Squarespace.

Do you offer white label or agency partner services?

We do offer branding, web site design, and general graphic design services for other creative businesses and are always happy to discuss a potential partnership. Reach out, we’d love to chat and see how we can help support you!

Are you able to update my existing web site?

Unfortunately we only perform maintenance on sites that were built by Due West Design. This is for several reasons, the most important one being that if we didn’t build the site we will not have a clear picture of the development decisions or the particular hosting and plug-ins that were used, which can lead to errors or longer times to troubleshoot issues. We DO redesign and rebuild existing web sites in Squarespace or WordPress following our design process and using your existing site as a resource for content and style elements.

Do you write copy for websites?

No, but we can recommend some great copy writers who specialize in that! We do work with you to create a site map that lists out all of your web site’s pages, then provide Google Docs templates for you to add your content for each page. We proofread your content and make recommendations for improving the flow and readability of the content you provide to make it as impactful and high converting as possible.

Will you provide photos for my website?

Yes, BUT! We will gladly research and find free stock photography options as well as reasonably priced photos for purchase to use on your web site. These are great supplements, BUT the site should also showcase your unique business (and you, if you are a service provider), and investing in professional photography can go a long way in conveying professionalism and expertise to your audience. We can help guide you in this area if you are considering hiring a photographer to help you with high quality, custom images for your new site.

Can you make my web site rank #1 on Google?

The short answer is no, because algorithms are tricky and best practices are always changing, and we are not an SEO firm. However, we do add key words and meta descriptions to improve rankings with search engines, and we are always happy to provide best practices for the management of your web site after it launches (such as adding new content and linking to and from other sites). We can also recommend SEO firms or other web design companies who specialize in this if it’s a top concern for you.

Can we work together if my business is based outside of Colorado?

Of course! Due West Design is made up of a remote team and works with clients all over the United States. We are equipped to collaborate remotely using email, phone calls, Zoom meetings, and our client portal.
